Hawa Mahal locally known as Roothi Rani Ka Mahal, was constructed by Maharana Jai Singh (1680-1698 CE). Later on, it was given to his youngest queen Roothi Rani who hailed from Panwar family of Bijolia. Local legends inform as the queen lived a segregated life, hence the name of the mahal gradually transformed into Roothi Rani Ka Mahal.
