PRATAP SMARAK, CHAVAND

GENRAL VIEW

After the battle of the Haldighati, Maharana Pratap captured this area from the Rathors and ruled from the Chavand hill, while continuing his fight with the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Maharana Pratap had built about sixteen hideouts within the radius of 10 to 11 Km around his new habitation at Chavand to look after the administration. Tikam Bavaji is one of his hideouts which consist of a temple, a small fortress raised over hill and some other structures. At Chavand, Maharana Pratap spent the last years of his life and built for himself a small palace and a temple for the goddess Chavand Mata.
