Due to centre position of the Ajmer in Rajputana, it was important politically to gain control over it. The Mughal Emperor Akbar came to Ajmer seeking the blessing of the Dargah of Sufi Saint Muin-ud-din Chisti. Akbar built many Gates in Ajmer such as Delhi gate, Tripolia gate, Usari gate, Madar gate and Agra gate. Presently, the Agra gate is totally dilapidated condition. The Usari gate is situated south of Diggi. Delhi gate and Tripolia gate were used as police check post for the Mughals. Delhi gate was decorated with paintings, some of which can still be seen in the arch of this gate. The Delhi gate has thick walls built of rubble and lime plaster.
