The name of the site is derived from the name of a modern temple built on the mound in the South-East corner. The present mound measures about 200 x 80 m in dimension and about 4-5 m in height. It is a multi-cultural site and has yielded Harappan, late Harappan and early historical pottery identified as Rang Mahal culture.
