This historical monument is structured by the Qutb-ud-Din Aibak, who was the first Sultan of Delhi after spoils the Hindu temple. The temple has been converted into mosque in two and a half days. It is said that a fair of two and half days was filled here also. The Sultan Iltutmish has beautified and decorated with architectural decoration. Sultan Iltutmish made further decorations to the edifice. This mosque consists of seven arches in screen wall. The central three arches are carved by three lines of writing which is divided from each other by two bands of rich Arabesque decoration. The two inner lines are Arabic and outer line is square Tughra or Kufic. In the courtyard, the mosque is built on the western side of the quadrangle. The monument is rich in epigraphic evidence both Sanskrit and Persian. All other inscriptions are in Arabic and inform the building of the mosque. A large number of sculptures and architectural pieces including pillars, pilasters, lintel pieces, amalakas, kirttimukas and fragments of many images were excavated from this site which belong the connection of Hindu temple.
